Its been ages since I started working this book. The walls are covered in sketches, piles of maps and scrolls litter the counters, and I have ink stains up to my elbows. I love it.

The histories are coming together in a way thats uncanny if Im honest about it. Almost seems as if the book were writing itself at this point and all I need to worry about is the graphics. Techie problems aside, I think Im doing alright; at least I'll be a master cartographer in a paint program by the time the digital Northern Province map is complete.

My Sir keeps wanting to get me new equipment to work with but Id rather see him enjoy something on his list of desires.Things may be taking me a while but Im not at a halt and thats the only thing that matters; cave ladies didnt have fully equipped kitchens and I dont need all those fancy gadgets getting in the way of my progress. :) Unfortuneately one day Im afraid Ill be punished for it. Oh well.

The three main cities on my map (Deshrentis, Frystotok, and Vatsos) provided a small problem over the weekend that was not forseen. I kinda pride myself on my ability to perceive knots in the rope before its been pulled up. Thankfully a friendly think-tank saved my bacon, allowing me to see beyond the murky surface and clean up my not-so-ill-thought plan.

As the days go on they seem to be getting shorter and Im finding them too short for all the thoughts I want to think and ultimately get down before I forget. The notebooks are still stacking up with fresh details and I am no where close to being done. The big thing bothering me is a name.

I need a name. I keep callig him "Jack the Ripper." He needs a name and I need to draw his shame scene but I dont think I can. Its a very disturbing idea but its never been done quite like this (none of it has) and it could potentially be the single detail that makes or breaks the story. I've already moved on to the outline for book 2 and Jack is the main character, if I get rid of the mutilation factor book 2 could fall apart before its even started.

I have yet to introduce the "creatures" of the new world because... ok, Im procrastinating. The creatures are a major hinge to people in the Northern Province and later in the East, West, and South which I have yet to even create. Fantasy writers everywhere use the same creatures (trolls, goblins, vampires, fairies, pegasus, its all been done) so its my goal to not create a new creature just show it in a way thats never been seen. Not an easy feat, but I am managing.
